Year after year, Bonsai Festival continues to grow, establishing itself as one of the most exciting fixtures of Bologna’s summer concert season. Set within the green surroundings of Parco delle Caserme Rosse, the festival returned in 2026 with an increasingly ambitious production and a striking 12-metre-high stage, confirming its evolution into a destination for both audiences and artists.
The 2026 edition welcomed an eclectic lineup spanning rock, alternative, rap and singer-songwriter music, featuring artists such as The Flaming Lips, The Zen Circus, Gio Evan, i cani, Levante, Elio e le Storie Tese, Tropico, Jet, Ernia, 22Simba and In Flames, further strengthening the festival’s reputation as one of the most vibrant open-air events of the Italian summer.
To support such a diverse program, the audio system was designed to deliver clarity, impact and consistency throughout the venue. The main PA consisted of 16 VIO L1610 modules, configured in two hangs of eight elements per side. Low-frequency reinforcement was provided by 8 S218F subwoofers positioned at the center of the stage in an end-fired configuration, while 2 additional VIO L1610 units served as front fills, ensuring seamless coverage for the audience closest to the stage. The crossover between the main arrays and the subwoofer system was set at 70 Hz, delivering a balanced and natural frequency response across the listening area.
The result was a system capable of adapting effortlessly to every performance, from the atmospheric textures of alternative rock to the punch and dynamics of contemporary urban productions. Powerful, controlled and musical, the VIO setup accompanied the festival throughout the season, helping transform every show into a memorable experience beneath the Bologna summer sky.
