The
Municipal Grammar School Hennef (SGH) is one of the largest school complexes in
North Rhine-Westphalia. Surrounded by a primary school, a comprehensive school, and a vocational school, framed by four playgrounds and connected to modern sports facilities, it offers students opportunities like no other school in NRW.
The central component of this school campus is the SGH's Pedagogical Centre (PZ). The PZ is more than a classic school assembly hall - a multi-functional hall that can be used for various events and purposes. With up to 400 seats, the PZ offers space for rehearsals and concerts of the school's music classes, performances of the theatre AGs or school information events and conferences. External use by the town of Hennef as the school's governing body is also common.
As part of a comprehensive renovation and upgrading following damage to the complex's roof, it was also decided to install a new sound reinforcement solution, as the existing system, which was defective in parts, was no longer state of the art anyway.
The installation's main focus was voice transmission, which covers a large part of the uses.
The 4" and 2x6" models of new loudspeakers from the
dBTechnologies IS series in white were chosen. On the one hand, they blend perfectly into the architecture with its dark ceiling and white absorbers; on the other hand, they offer the necessary speech and syllable intelligibility to meet the diverse requirements of the different applications.
The project was planned and implemented by
Siren RnR from Siegburg.
As of now,
2x6" IS 26T loudspeakers are used in the front, lowered area of the hall, supplemented by further
IS 26T models as delays, for sufficient coverage in the width and depth of the octagonal and acoustically not entirely unproblematic room.
IS 4T 4" loudspeakers were distributed in the rear area to ensure clear speech intelligibility in the last rows.
The systems are controlled by a dBTechnologies
AC26N controller, on which presets for the various applications can be called up.
"The result is something to be proud of," says Siren RnR owner Uli Hoppert. "I am sure that this solution is perfect for the SGH, as it covers almost all possible applications." Mr. Michael Decker, head of the technical team at the SGH, is also pleased: "After many years, it is great to be able to provide the students, teachers, and external users of the PZ with state-of-the-art technology in this area again."
