[Bologna, June 24rd 2023] - dBTechnologies, a leading Italian company in the design and manufacture of professional audio systems, and Thales Alenia Space, a joint venture between Thales (67%) and Leonardo (33%), a leading global space company, are proud to announce their new partnership in the application of a system based on Direct Field Acoustic Noise (DFAN) technology for testing acoustic qualification levels of space products, an alternative technology to the traditional standard consisting of using a reverberant acoustic chamber.
Specifically, within the partnership, dBTechnologies provides everything that makes up the DFAN acoustic field generation system (including its VIO L212 line array and VIO S218 subwoofer products), which is used to qualify "on the fly" what Thales Alenia Space produces in the space field, at the Rome site.
This test represents a fundamental step within a space product's development and production phase; it normally precedes delivery at the launch base and consists of subjecting the satellite to an acoustic field equal to that generated in the carrier rocket during the launch phase: all this to verify its structural response and, thus, its ability to "survive" going into orbit.
dBTechnologies' speakers have been expressly customized, through firmware modifications and hardware adaptations (of the accessory part), to fully adhere to the requirements developed by Thales Alenia Space specialists.
