The Sanremo Festival reaches its 75th edition in 2025, attracting dozens of musicians, thousands of tourists, millions of viewers worldwide, and a television share that confirms, with striking numbers, the indisputable appeal and charm of Italy's most iconic music event.
A symbol of television theater and a cradle of Italy's artistic and cultural history, the Teatro Ariston has once again hosted crowds of passionate fans, superstar guests, and the crème de la crème of pop music. With a stage design inspired by the world of techno-clubbing, the theater shines this year in a new light, defined by sleek, futuristic, and sinuous plastic lines that embrace cutting-edge technologies typical of the hi-tech sphere, with particular attention paid to the televised image, supported by a specially designed video and lighting system.
In such an ambitious project, inspired by eclectic contemporary elements, a revision of the audio system in the venue became necessary. The VIO technology, after years of successful provision, remains the benchmark for audio distribution in the venue.
Following the acoustic success achieved with the use of the VIO L210 system, the 2025 edition of the Sanremo Festival is now sounded by the VIO L1610 system, configured and fine-tuned to meet the new requirements of this edition. This system is designed with the goal of achieving uniform sound coverage: the RAI technical team chose the L1610 module to enhance power, working on sound distribution to create precise and targeted coverage, ensuring direct, clear, and focused sound in every seat of the theater. Additionally, to optimize the intelligibility of both music and speech, the speakers have been strategically placed to reach maximum amount of direct sound for the audience.
The audio system consists of the following units, distributed as follows:
Main L-R: 10 VIO L1610 (5 VIO L1610 per side)
Main Subs: 2 VIO S218
Frontfill: 4 IG1T
Infill VIP: 2 VIO X310 – dedicated to covering the first 5 rows directly under the stage
Second Infill: 6 VIO L1610 L-R – dedicated to covering the next 8 rows
In the balcony area, the main system is divided into 3 L-C-R clusters with:
Balcony L-C-R: 13 VIO L210
Balcony Subs: 4 VIO S118 L-R in 2+2 units
Stage Talk Monitor: 6 IG1T positioned on stage for monitoring all speaking phases.
Moreover, other VIO branded audio units sound the entrance hall.
