What Client Says

"The speaker system blended beautifully with the wooden heritage backdrop while maintaining incredible vocal clarity and a warm, punchy tone for traditional and modern string instruments alike."
[DHSound Team]

Few performance settings can match the atmosphere of Deoksugung Palace. Surrounded by centuries of Korean history and framed by the elegant wooden architecture of Jeokjodang Hall, the 2026 Royal Culture Festival – Deoksugung Pungnyu brought together heritage and contemporary artistic expression in one of Seoul’s most iconic cultural landmarks.

Held from April 26 to May 2 as part of the Royal Culture Festival, South Korea’s largest national heritage celebration, the event welcomed approximately 2,000 daily visitors, including both local audiences and international tourists. The program centered on traditional Korean music and modern crossover performances, creating a dialogue between past and present through a carefully curated series of open-air concerts staged directly in front of one of the palace’s most historically significant buildings.

Delivering high-quality sound in such a sensitive environment required a carefully engineered solution. Strict limitations on rigging, sightlines and physical infrastructure demanded a system capable of providing even coverage while remaining visually discreet and fully respectful of the historic setting.

To meet these challenges, the DHSound Rental Company deployed a dBTechnologies system comprising 24 VIO L212 modules, 12 VIO L210 modules, 4 IG4T systems and 2 SUB18H subwoofers. The configuration was designed to achieve consistent intelligibility and musicality throughout the audience area while preserving the visual integrity of the palace grounds.

System optimization and tuning were carried out using Smaart Live 9, paired with an RME Babyface Pro audio interface and an M30 measurement microphone. A comprehensive AuroraNet control network was established through RDNet connectivity across all compatible loudspeakers, enabling centralized monitoring, real-time system management and precise control of the entire audio deployment.

All audio services were provided by DHSound Rental Company, whose team worked within the unique constraints of the heritage site to ensure seamless integration between technology and architecture.

Reflecting on the project, the technical team highlighted the particular challenges of the venue:
"Managing acoustic coverage in a historical palace environment with strict spatial and physical rigging limits was challenging. The speaker system blended beautifully with the wooden heritage backdrop while maintaining incredible vocal clarity and a warm, punchy tone for traditional and modern string instruments alike."

The result was an audio experience that respected the cultural significance of the location while meeting the demands of contemporary live performance. Clear vocals, natural instrument reproduction and controlled coverage allowed audiences to fully immerse themselves in the music, reinforcing the festival’s mission of connecting Korea’s royal heritage with modern cultural expression.
