Grand music resonates through the historic heart of Lucca, as the Lucca Summer Festival transforms Piazza Napoleone into a live stage like no other. Enclosed by centuries-old architecture, the square offers both a visually striking and acoustically sensitive setting, requiring precision, balance, and intelligent system design.
For the 2025 edition, featuring headliners such as Antonello Venditti, Dream Theater, Carlos Santana, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Scorpions, Ghali, Riccardo Cocciante, Robert Plant, Nick Cave, Nile Rodgers & Chic, Pet Shop Boys, Riccardo Muti, Alanis Morissette, Simple Minds, Morrissey, and Bryan Adams, dBTechnologies systems were chosen to deliver high-definition sound that respects both the complexity of the venue and the scale of the performances.
The audio setup was entrusted to Tema Show Service, who deployed a fully optimized VIO Series configuration.
The main PA consists of 24 VIO L212 line array modules with an additional 24 VIO L212 modules serving as outfills. Centerfill coverage is handled by 5 VIO L1610 modules, while 15 VIO L1610 modules served as frontfills. 4 VIO X310 units acts as outer fills to support fringe areas.
Low-frequency energy is distributed through a dual subwoofer system: 18 VIO S218F subwoofers flown in a gradient stack array in 9 units per side, complemented by 22 VIO S218F subwoofers on the ground arranged in a gradient stack and electronic arc array, in a special “Pons” configuration.
This carefully engineered layout ensures consistent coverage, controlled dispersion, and immersive sound throughout the square, supporting an ambitious, high-profile lineup while preserving the sonic integrity of one of Italy’s most iconic urban venues.
