What Client Says

Few places in Europe can rival the atmosphere of a summer concert in Piazza Napoleone. Enclosed within the Renaissance walls of Lucca and framed by centuries of history, the square transforms every year into one of the most iconic live music destinations on the continent, where legendary artists and contemporary superstars share the same stage beneath the Tuscan night sky.
For its 2026 edition, Lucca Summer Festival once again reinforces its international stature with a lineup spanning generations and genres. Piazza Napoleone welcomes artists including Alabama Shakes, John Legend, Tom Jones, David Byrne and many more, bringing thousands of fans into the heart of the city for a season of unforgettable performances.

Delivering world-class sound within a historic urban environment requires a carefully balanced approach. The challenge is not only achieving the scale demanded by international productions, but also maintaining uniform coverage and exceptional intelligibility throughout a venue surrounded by architectural constraints and reflective surfaces.

To meet these demands, the main PA is built around 24 VIO L212 modules, configured in two hangs of 12 elements per side. Horizontal coverage is reinforced by an additional 24 VIO L212 modules deployed as outfills, complemented by 4 VIO X310 systems configured as stacked side reinforcement, ensuring tonal consistency across the widest audience areas.
Front-row coverage is entrusted to 15 VIO L1610 units, providing a seamless transition between the stage edge and the main arrays while preserving clarity and definition for listeners closest to the performance.

Low-frequency reproduction is delivered through a hybrid subwoofer deployment comprising 18 flown VIO S218F subwoofers, configured in hangs of nine units per side, alongside 22 ground-stacked VIO S218F subwoofers positioned across the front of the stage. This combination provides the power and depth required by modern arena-scale productions while maintaining precise control of low-frequency energy throughout the venue.

The result is a remarkably coherent sound field capable of adapting to the demands of an exceptionally diverse program, from intimate acoustic performances and orchestral arrangements to high-energy rock productions and large-scale pop shows. Every element of the system is designed to preserve detail, impact and musicality across the entire audience area.
As evening settles over Piazza Napoleone and the lights illuminate the historic facades surrounding the square, the VIO system becomes the invisible link between artist and audience. From the first note to the final encore, music travels effortlessly through one of Italy’s most celebrated concert settings, helping transform every performance into another chapter of the enduring story of Lucca Summer Festival.
