What Client Says

“The dBTechnologies systems have given us the coverage, flexibility and impact to bring that vision to life, from the unsettling soundscapes woven throughout the haunted houses to the powerful system driving our main stage, while allowing the audio to remain an integral part of the experience rather than a distraction from it.”
Eli Gonzalez [Director of Operations at LEC Media Group]

“It was an opportunity to become the park's official audio partner and contribute to an ambitious entertainment experience that required a comprehensive sound solution across multiple environments.” Nico Dres [Vice President at dBTechnologies USA]

Five haunted houses, 240 live actors, carnival rides, outdoor scare zones and a main stage dedicated to live entertainment: Sounds of Screams transforms 13 acres of the Miami-Dade County Fair & Expo Center into an elaborate Halloween experience, where sound plays a fundamental role in bringing each attraction to life.

Created by Sounds of Screams LLC, operating as part of a consortium of businesses led by Logistic Events Corp., LEC Investment Group and LEC Media Group, the event combines theatrical storytelling, live performances and carefully designed soundscapes. With 194 dBTechnologies loudspeakers deployed throughout the park and on the main stage, the project brings together multiple product families to address the acoustic requirements of its diverse environments.

LEC Media Group played a central role in the audiovisual production, overseeing the acquisition of the park-wide audio systems and developing the soundscapes and effects that define the experience. Andy Tindall, Senior Applications Engineer at dBTechnologies USA, supported the design and deployment of the loudspeaker systems across the haunted houses and outdoor areas.

“When we created Sounds of Screams, we wanted every haunted house and every space throughout the park to have its own identity and atmosphere. Sound is essential to that experience — it builds tension, brings our stories to life and gives our actors another layer to work with as they interact with guests,” explains Eli Gonzalez, Director of Operations at LEC Media Group.

The five attractions explore distinct narratives, from the breached laboratory of The Infected and the historical horror of Witch Trials of 1692 to the Latin American folklore of Mitos y Leyendas, the post-apocalyptic setting of Dead End and the psychological terror of the adults-only SOS House. Each environment requires a dedicated sonic identity, with loudspeakers integrated into the scenery to accompany the action and reinforce the interaction between performers and visitors.

Across the indoor attractions, 39 OPERA 10 loudspeakers provide full-range reproduction, supported by 14 SUB 615 and 12 SUB 612 subwoofers for additional low-frequency impact. A particularly sophisticated application was developed inside Mitos y Leyendas, also known as the House of Myths, where VIO X205 loudspeakers were used to create 13 independent audio zones within a single attraction. Featuring nine experiences inspired by legends from different countries, the house required precise acoustic separation between adjacent scenes, allowing visitors to move between contrasting sound environments while preserving the identity and dramatic impact of each story.

The outdoor areas are served by a distributed installation based on the dBTechnologies IS Series, selected for its discreet integration and weather-resistant design. The configuration includes 28 IS210TW, 50 IS26T-WP and 3 IS26T100-WP loudspeakers, powered by 12 IA3204D amplifiers. With IP55-rated solutions deployed across the themed grounds, the system extends the sonic experience beyond the haunted houses, accompanying visitors through the park's open-air attractions and entertainment areas.

For the outdoor main stage, Limitless Production Services, a new dBTechnologies VIO partner in Florida, supplied a complete touring-level sound reinforcement system built around the three-way active VIO L1608 line array.

The configuration features 18 VIO L1608 modules, with 16 flown in left-and-right arrays and 2 additional units serving as front fills. Low-frequency reinforcement is provided by 4 VIO S218 and 2 VIO S118R subwoofers, complemented by 2 VIO X310 side fills and 6 VIO W10 low-profile stage monitors. This dedicated VIO system delivers the power, dynamics and coverage required for the park's live concerts and performances.

“With 13 acres to cover, we needed a system that could deliver everything from subtle, eerie details to powerful, consistent sound across the outdoor grounds,” Gonzalez explains. “The dBTechnologies systems have given us the coverage, flexibility and impact to bring that vision to life, from the unsettling soundscapes woven throughout the haunted houses to the powerful system driving our main stage, while allowing the audio to remain an integral part of the experience rather than a distraction from it.”

For Nico Dres, Vice President at dBTechnologies USA, the project represented an opportunity to contribute to an ambitious entertainment concept through a comprehensive audio solution spanning theatrical attractions, distributed outdoor sound and live production.

“dBTechnologies loudspeakers are known for their clarity and power, but in this project, we wanted them to deliver something beyond great sound: an unforgettable experience that sends chills down every visitor's spine,” concludes Dres.

Running from September 24 to November 1, 2026, Sounds of Screams demonstrates the versatility of the dBTechnologies ecosystem in a complex entertainment installation, where precise sound localization, reliable outdoor performance and high-output live reinforcement work together to make audio an essential part of the storytelling.
