The VIO Operator courses by dBTechnologies Academy provide comprehensive, structured training on the use of the VIO Series—our premium audio system. These courses are ideal for those looking to gain the skills needed to operate VIO systems independently, whether starting from basic knowledge or building upon existing expertise with advanced, practical, and up-to-date content.

The program explores the use of VIO line arrays, subwoofers, point sources, and monitors in depth, offering practical guidance on system presets, rigging techniques, tuning procedures, and advanced remote control tools. Training is divided into two levels—Level 1 and Level 2—designed to offer a solid and progressive learning path with strong technical value.

El programa explora en profundidad el uso de los line arrays, subwoofers, fuentes puntuales y monitores VIO, y ofrece orientación práctica sobre preajustes del sistema, técnicas de montaje, procedimientos de afinación y herramientas avanzadas de control remoto. La formación se divide en dos niveles, Nivel 1 y Nivel 2, diseñados para ofrecer un itinerario de aprendizaje sólido y progresivo con un gran valor técnico.

OPERADOR VIO NIVEL 1

El curso de nivel 1 es el punto de partida para adquirir experiencia práctica con la serie VIO. Los participantes aprenderán los fundamentos de la teoría acústica, los preajustes de VIO y cómo utilizar Aurora Net para el control y la monitorización del sistema. El curso también abarca habilidades prácticas como el diseño, el montaje y la configuración del sistema.

TEMAS DEL CURSO:

Teoría acústica básica
• Conceptos clave: frecuencia, tiempo, fase, polaridad.
• Filtros FIR (respuesta impulsiva finita) e IIR (respuesta impulsiva infinita) y sus aplicaciones.
• Introducción a la teoría de los line arrays y cómo se comportan los sistemas VIO en diversos entornos.

Presets VIO
• Análisis de las condiciones atmosféricas en la propagación del sonido.
• Estrategias de colocación del sistema y selección de preajustes ambientales.
• Descripción general de los preajustes de acoplamiento y la compensación de altas frecuencias.

Fundamentos del diseño y control del sistema
• Aurora Net: control completo del sistema, monitorización y actualizaciones de firmware.
• Conceptos básicos de RDNet y redes para sistemas VIO.
• Software Composer: uso práctico como herramienta de modelado y configuración.
• Presets de usuario: creación, gestión y procedimientos de recuperación.
• Descripción general del firmware 2.0: características clave, mejores prácticas y directrices de configuración.

Técnicas de implementación
• Fundamentos del montaje de arreglos lineales y subwoofers VIO.
• Configuración práctica de un pequeño sistema VIO, tanto apilado en el suelo como suspendido.

*Este curso combina conocimientos teóricos con demostraciones interactivas y ejercicios prácticos. Los participantes tendrán la oportunidad de aplicar los conceptos en tiempo real, lo que garantiza tanto la comprensión teórica como la confianza práctica en el funcionamiento de los sistemas VIO.

OPERADOR VIO NIVEL 2

El nivel 2 es un curso avanzado diseñado para aquellos que han completado el nivel 1. Se centra en el modelado ampliado de sistemas, las redes avanzadas y la optimización de la serie VIO, lo que permite a los participantes especializarse en el diseño y el ajuste de configuraciones complejas.

TEMAS DEL CURSO:

Diseño
• Modelado de sistemas con AFMG EASE Focus para una predicción precisa de VIO. • Redes Dante: configuración e integración para la distribución de audio digital. • Configuración avanzada de RDNet para diseños complejos de sistemas VIO.

Implementación
• Técnicas avanzadas de montaje para implementaciones a gran escala, seguras y eficaces.

Control
• Uso avanzado de Aurora Net para una personalización detallada y el control del sistema. • Alineación y ajuste del sistema para un rendimiento óptimo. • Configuración y ajuste de la matriz de subwoofers para gestionar la dispersión de bajas frecuencias en entornos diversos.

*El nivel 2 hace hincapié en la aplicación en el mundo real, proporcionando a los participantes experiencia directa en el diseño, control y despliegue de sistemas a través de ejercicios prácticos y un uso en profundidad del software. Es la formación ideal para aquellos que desean dominar todo el potencial de la serie VIO.

LO QUE NECESITAS PARA PARTICIPAR

VIO Operator Level 1 + Level 2 VIO OPERATOR LEVEL 1 (DAY 1)

The VIO Operator Level 1 training equips participants with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to operate dBTechnologies’ VIO Series, our flagship line of premium sound reinforcement products. Attendees who complete this training will receive a globally recognized certificate, establishing them as certified users of VIO Series equipment, including line arrays, subwoofers, point sources, and wedges.

• Hands-on setup of a small sound system, including both ground-stacked and suspended configurations for line arrays and subwoofers This training will combine theoretical insights with interactive demonstrations and practice sessions.

Participants will have the opportunity to apply each concept in real-time, ensuring they leave with both the knowledge and practical skills to deploy VIO systems confidently.

_______________________ VIO OPERATOR LEVEL 2 (DAY 2)

VIO Operator Level 2 is an advanced certification course designed for those who have completed VIO Operator Level 1.

This training builds upon the foundational knowledge covered in Level 1, providing a deeper, more hands-on approach. As a practical extension of Level 1, Level 2 focuses on system modeling, advanced networking, and control techniques, allowing participants to specialize further in deploying and optimizing the VIO Series.

Training Topics Design

• System Modeling: Practical training using AFMG EASE Focus software for precise VIO system modeling and visualization

• Dante Networking: Setup and integration of Dante networking for seamless audio distribution

• RDNet Networking: Advanced RDNet configurations for more complex VIO system setups Deployment

• Advanced Rigging Procedures: Enhanced rigging techniques for complex configurations, ensuring safe and effective deployment of large VIO array Control

• Aurora Net Advanced: In-depth use of Aurora Net for detailed system control and customization

• Subwoofer Arrays: Configuration and tuning of subwoofer arrays to optimize low-frequency performance across venues

VIO Operator Level 2 emphasizes practical, hands-on learning to solidify and extend the foundational skills from Level 1.

Participants will work directly with systems and software tools, gaining expertise through real-world application and in-depth system handling. This course is ideal for users looking to achieve mastery in VIO system design, control, and deployment.

Event Overview

Join us for an exclusive masterclass with Josh Rogosin, the sound engineer who defined the iconic sound of NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts. Over his ten years with Tiny Desk, Josh's mixes have brought listeners into intimate performances by major artists, from indie gems to Broadway legends.

We are talking about over 800 NPR Tiny Desk concerts collaborating with Harry Styles, Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Fred Again, Boygenius, Sampha, Hozier, Dua Lipa, Sting, Post Malone, Coldplay, Anderson .Paak, and many many more.

Now, he’s taking this expertise on the road with his new initiative, Global Sound Concerts, where he captures local music across the globe, uncovering how place shapes sound. This masterclass dives deep into Rogosin’s unique recording techniques and his philosophy for capturing authentic, unprocessed sound.

DAY ONE (December 4th) - Masterclass:
Josh will give an overview of his career spanning 25 years in public broadcasting. You will learn how he used stereo and surround sound gathering techniques to tell stories through sound, from voodoo rituals in West Africa to Ancient Athletics in Greece. Want to know how your favorite tiny desk performance was captured? Josh will explain how he captures music as a journalist rather than as a recording engineer - and how he created the iconic sound for Tiny Desk for 10 years.

DAY TWO (December 5th) - Workshop Field Recording:
What’s next after Tiny Desk? See Josh in action as he sets out to record 2 episodes of his new projects: Global Sound and Ghost Light concerts. Josh will record a local artist in a visually inspiring location in Bologna to learn why being from the city has inspired them to be a musician. After, we will go to a theater in town to record a musician and the acoustics of the space using just one ambisonic mic for Josh’s new Ghost Light Concerts series. This workshop will be interactive and you will be encouraged to participate and be an audience for the new series.

As part of the masterclass, one local artist or band will be selected through the #GlobalSoundBO contest to be recorded live by Josh Rogosin during Day 2 (December 5th) of the workshop. To apply, simply post a 1-minute video of your band performing original music on Instagram using the hashtag #GlobalSoundBO and tagging @joshrogosin, @globalsoundconcerts and @dbtechnologies.
