"They wanted a lot of power, they were looking for the 'wow' effect; at best, we expected the 'wow' effect only on the corners, but we have gone far beyond expectations: today we can say that the sounding of the arena is detailed, homogeneous, optimized and powerful."
Nicola Volpato [Site Manager of Mountech]

PalaTrento, a sports facility and home to prestigious volleyball and basketball clubs, is now a new, multi-purpose center.
During a complete interior restyling involving multiple technical and architectural aspects, a replacement and redesign of the resident sound system became essential, an installation allowing further extension of the overall acoustic coverage.

The needs of the venue correspond to the usual of a sports hall, built to welcome teams, fans, and entourage; thanks to an overall refresh of the technical equipment and new solutions for fruition, PalaTrento can guarantee its audiences more spectacular sporting, celebratory, and artistic actions on site, as well as easier broadcasting operations.
Today, Trento's leading sports facility has become a space capable of hosting the full range of event types: sports, public and private happenings, concerts, and shows where music is the protagonist.

The complex renovation project, headed by Arch. Eleonora Strada, was entrusted to Mountech company, which reconceived audio distribution for the playground, the stands, and the stalls, adopting new solutions to make the accesses to the electrical system inspectable and practicable.

"The numerous interventions were aimed at giving the complete versatility to a facility with a multifunctional character," says Nicola Volpato, Site Manager at Mountech; "as far as the sound system is concerned, one of the most demanding challenges was related to the positioning of the new arrayed clusters: starting from a completely acoustic sound design, we had to carefully evaluate the positioning of the audio bodies about the lighting structure of the arena, that is, to survey the position of the lights and all the spaces dedicated to video transmission and to calculate with extreme accuracy the positioning of the loudspeakers."

The VIO X206 systems were chosen to match the goal of high intelligibility: the entire project was designed to optimize sound in speaking, which requires maximum clarity.
Each set-up operation of the dBTechnologies sound systems was carried out by the technical teams of Elettroteam and Iiriti Srl. The sound project was carried out with the installation of 4 units of VIO X206 90°x60°, arranged above the playground area, while 4 arrays, each consisting of 5 units of VIO X206 complemented by 1 sub VIO S115, now sound the area of the stalls; 8 arrays consisting of 4 units X206 and 4 arrays of 2 complements S115 constitute the full acoustic coverage of the stands, while for the acoustic coverage of the ends of the stands, 4 speakers IS 210 with 2 IA504 were also added.

Commenting on the excellent result achieved, Nicola Volpato emphasizes, "They wanted a lot of power, they were looking for the 'wow' effect; at best, we expected the 'wow' effect only on the corners, but we have gone far beyond expectations: today we can say that the sounding of the arena is detailed, homogeneous, optimized and powerful."
