VIO Operator Courses

The VIO Operator courses by dBTechnologies Academy provide comprehensive, structured training on the use of the VIO Series—our premium audio system. These courses are ideal for those looking to gain the skills needed to operate VIO systems independently, whether starting from basic knowledge or building upon existing expertise with advanced, practical, and up-to-date content.

The program explores the use of VIO line arrays, subwoofers, point sources, and monitors in depth, offering practical guidance on system presets, rigging techniques, tuning procedures, and advanced remote control tools. Training is divided into two levels—Level 1 and Level 2—designed to offer a solid and progressive learning path with strong technical value.
1

VIO OPERATOR LEVEL 1

The Level 1 course is the starting point for gaining hands-on experience with the VIO Series. Participants will learn the basics of acoustic theory, VIO presets, and how to use Aurora Net for system control and monitoring. The course also covers practical skills such as system design, rigging, and configuration.

COURSE TOPICS:

Basic Acoustic Theory
• Key concepts: frequency, time, phase, polarity.
• FIR (Finite Impulse Response) and IIR (Infinite Impulse Response) filters and applications.
• Introduction to line array theory and how VIO systems behave in various environments.

VIO Presets
• Analysis of atmospheric conditions on sound propagation.
• System placement strategies and environmental preset selection.
• Overview of coupling presets and high-frequency compensation.

System Design and Control Fundamentals
• Aurora Net: full system control, monitoring, and firmware updates.
• RDNet and networking basics for VIO systems.
• Composer software: practical use as a modeling and configuration tool.
• User presets: creation, management, and recall procedures.
• Firmware 2.0 overview: key features, best practices, and configuration guidelines.

Implementation Techniques
• Rigging fundamentals for VIO line arrays and subwoofers.
• Practical setup of a small VIO system, both ground-stacked and flown.

*This course combines theoretical knowledge with interactive demonstrations and practical exercises. Participants will have the opportunity to apply concepts in real time, ensuring both theoretical understanding and practical confidence in operating VIO systems.

2

VIO OPERATOR LEVEL 2

Level 2 is an advanced course designed for those who have completed Level 1. It focuses on extended system modeling, advanced networking, and VIO Series optimization, allowing participants to specialize in the design and fine-tuning of complex setups.

COURSE TOPICS:

Design
• System modeling with AFMG EASE Focus for accurate VIO prediction.
• Dante networking: setup and integration for digital audio distribution.
• Advanced RDNet configuration for complex VIO system layouts.

Implementation
• Advanced rigging techniques for large-scale, safe, and effective deployments.

Control
• Advanced Aurora Net usage for detailed customization and system control.
• System alignment and tuning for optimal performance.
• Subwoofer array configuration and tuning to manage low-frequency dispersion in diverse environments.

*Level 2 emphasizes real-world application, giving participants direct experience with system design, control, and deployment through practical exercises and in-depth software use. It’s the ideal training for those aiming to master the full potential of the VIO Series.

WHAT YOU NEED TO PARTICIPATE
A Windows laptop (or a Mac running a virtualized Windows environment) is recommended to use dBTechnologies Composer, AFMG EASE Focus, and Aurora Net.
