As part of a modernisation project, a compact yet high-performance dBTechnologies PA system has been installed at De Kei, a small-scale theatre and cultural venue in Reusel (Netherlands), designed for a wide range of events from spoken word to live music. With the support of local AV integrator GISB Audiovisueel and the dBTechnologies team, the venue now boasts a powerful yet discreet audio solution that meets its multifunctional needs.
Kei’s focus is on user-friendliness: the technology in a presentation room or theatre does not have to be complicated. A combination that is suitable for both amateurs and professional users is the best solution for this type of venue. This allows specialised technicians to put on a professional performance, while the local theatre club can manage everything independently. Exactly here, dBTechnologie’s audio systems come into play regarding sound reinforcement.
De Kei features a flexible layout used for theatre productions, musical performances, and presentations. To accommodate the varying demands of these applications, the system design focuses on both intelligibility and musicality, ensuring clarity and impact in every seat of the house.
The new setup includes:
• 2x VIO X12 full-range active speakers for the main front-of-house reinforcement combined as a stack with 2x VIO S118R subwoofers for extended low-end coverage
• 6x VIO X205 compact two-way speakers, deployed as infill and delay lines
“The VIO systems are ideal for extending coverage in such an intimate space without overpowering the room. Their size and flexibility make them a natural choice for front-of-house positioning as well as delay and front fill applications,” Roel van Gisbergen, AV specialist at GISB Audiovisueel, comments.
The system was fine-tuned using dBTechnologies’ Aurora Net software, allowing precise alignment and optimisation of all components. “We created a multifunctional preset to ensure smooth transitions between different types of events. Whether it’s a speech or a concert, the sound remains balanced and transparent,” says Christian van de Pas, Systems Engineer at dBTechnologies.
Thanks to the intelligent system configuration and the ease of control provided by Aurora Net, De Kei now offers audiences a premium audio experience that enhances its reputation as a vibrant community hub for arts and culture.
